Find answers to common questions about booking tests, fasting requirements, sample collection, and receiving your reports.
Booking & General Info
Yes! Agam Diagnostics provides convenient home sample collection across Madurai. Our trained phlebotomists will visit your home at your scheduled time. You can book this service via our website or by calling our hotline.
Absolutely. All our phlebotomists and lab technicians are highly trained, certified, and follow strict hygiene and safety protocols, including wearing fresh gloves and using sealed, sterile needles for every patient.
No, a doctor's prescription is not mandatory for routine blood work or preventive health checkups (like our master health packages). However, for highly specialized diagnostic tests, a prescription helps ensure we perform exactly what your doctor requires.
Test Preparation & Fasting
Fasting means you must not eat or drink anything (except plain water) for a specific number of hours before your blood is drawn. No tea, coffee, juice, or milk is allowed during this period.
Yes, you can and should drink plain water to stay hydrated. Being well-hydrated makes it much easier for the phlebotomist to find your veins. Just do not add lemon or sugar to the water.
For a Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) test, an 8 to 10-hour fast is recommended. For a Lipid Profile (Cholesterol), a 10 to 12-hour fast is strictly recommended for the most accurate triglyceride results.
Usually, you can take your routine medications (like blood pressure pills) with plain water. However, if you are taking diabetic medications (insulin or pills), ask your doctor, as taking them while fasting may drop your blood sugar too low. If you are taking a Thyroid test, you should give your sample BEFORE taking your morning thyroid pill.
Fasting is not strictly required for a Thyroid Profile. However, if you are doing it along with Fasting Sugar or a Lipid Profile, you must fast. Always give your sample before taking your daily thyroid medication.
Sample Collection
For the best results, provide a "mid-stream" sample. Start urinating into the toilet, stop briefly, and then collect the next portion in the sterile container provided by the lab. The first morning urine is always preferred for routine tests.
It is usually recommended to wait until your period is over before giving a urine or stool sample, as menstrual blood can contaminate the sample and cause false results (e.g., falsely indicating blood in the urine/stool). Blood tests, however, are fine to take.
Reports & Results
Most routine blood tests (like CBC, Sugar, Lipid Profile, Thyroid) are processed and delivered within 12 to 24 hours. Specialized tests (like cultures or genetic tests) may take 3 to 7 days. We will inform you of the exact turnaround time during booking.
For your convenience, reports are sent digitally via Email and WhatsApp as secure PDFs as soon as they are ready. You can also log into our website to download them. Hard copies can be collected from our lab if requested.
While our reports clearly highlight abnormal values against standard reference ranges, our lab technicians cannot prescribe medication or diagnose a condition. Please consult your physician for a proper medical interpretation of your results. You can also use our Understanding Reports page for basic guidance.
Yes, absolutely. Agam Diagnostics adheres to strict data privacy policies. Your medical data is securely stored and is only shared with you and the referring physician (if applicable).
Payments & Insurance
We accept Cash, UPI (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm), Credit/Debit Cards, and Net Banking. For home collections, you can pay via UPI or cash directly to our phlebotomist at the time of sample collection.
Most preventive health checkups are tax-deductible under Section 80D. If your specific health insurance policy covers diagnostic OPD expenses, we provide official, computerized GST invoices that you can submit for reimbursement.
